The Directors
Laurence Stear Director
Laurence Stear has over 13 years experience in all aspects of asbestos work, ranging from air monitoring to project management works and quality. Laurence started his career as an analyst carrying out day to day air tests, clearance testing and analysis of materials suspected of containing asbestos. He progressed through to Assistant Quality, Quality Manager and later Technical Manager. As part of his roles as Technical Manager Laurence was responsible for ensuring the office complied with its United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) requirements and later ensuring the company was undertaking all aspects of its work in accordance with HSE legislation and guidance.
Laurence also took over the role of providing awareness training, both practical and theory for various clients as well as in-house. This involved providing a presentation tailored to the client’s requirements.
Laurence also took on major project management roles for large clients. Laurence spent 3 years looking after all asbestos management issues for a major University. Duties included providing quotations, surveying, air testing, attending project meeting for large multi million pound refurbishment projects, reporting to the safety officer on a weekly basis and ensuring the Universities asbestos database was kept up to date. Laurence also audited removal contractors on behalf of the client.
Raymond Mailey Director
Raymond Mailey has over 22 years experience within the asbestos industry, with the last 10 years directly involved with the day to day management of a variety of teams, as the Quality Manager, Consultancy Manager and Technical Manager. This included staff appraisal, dealing with both minor and major problems in an efficient and effective manner. This work also involved liaison with various clients and board Directors. He also ensured that all work undertaken by members of my team was undertaken to International Standards and in house procedures.
To ensure this was effectively undertaken, Raymond had to undertake routine Technical and System audits to identify any non-conforming work and implement appropriate improvement actions if and when required. He was also responsible for annual external audits which were undertaken by UKAS.
Raymond was also responsible for training all new members and existing members of the team. This involved producing a training schedule which was reviewed and updated on a monthly basis. This included practical on-site training and coaching team members in preparation for external exams such as P402 and S301/oral.
